I trained as an illustrator and have now chosen to concentrate on relief printmaking in the form of linocuts.
I draw, then mark and cut the surface of the lino using gouge and V- tools as well as any other household tools to hand. I also acid etch the surface of the lino and often use mixed media embedded in the surface. The ideas for the prints are always taken from sketchbook drawings which I do in tandem with my printmaking.
When I am ready to print, each colour is rolled out and inked up separately, then printed on paper using an C19th Albion press or a Japanese baren. Every print is unique and therefore colours may vary slightly from print to print. The editions are usually less than 15.
Since Lockdown, I have been printing at home using a baren and printing on Japanese papers.
